In order to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS, Willenson and Camp Heartland have been featured by the Oprah Winfrey Show, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Dateline NBC, TIME Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Progressive Magazine, USA Today, and hundreds of other publications. Willenson and Camp Heartland were profiled in the CBS Movie of the Week, "Angelie's Secret," in the Disney Channel film "Friends for Life," on Good Morning America, CBS Morning News and countless television talk shows, and the feature film, "Born with HIV: Little Warriors."
Along with many of Camp Heartland's campers, Willenson authored the book, "A Journey of Hope – Inspiring Stories of Courage and Unconditional Love" This book is the winner of a number of prestigious national awards.
In December 2008, Willenson was featured in the GQ Man of the Year issue to honor his work with One Heartland. Previously, Willenson was recognized by PEOPLE magazine as one of the "50 Top Bachelors" in their annual Most Eligible Bachelor issue. Now officially "off the market" Willenson is married to artist Adria Rosenthal Willenson and is the proud father of two children, Alanna and Joshua.
While Willenson remains the passionate and engaged leader of One Heartland, he also has enjoyed his work as an actor appearing in the feature film, "The Legend Trip" as Dr. Conrad and in countless regional and national television commercials. Willenson is represented by Ford Models Midwest and Lori Lins Talent in Milwaukee.
Far more important than receiving widespread media coverage and awards is the fact that Willenson has been privileged to befriend thousands of inspiring children and young adults who face adversity with great courage and dignity.
Fundamental in every project Willenson leads, is the belief that all people have value and that we should follow our heart to work for a brighter tomorrow.
